Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin is a manga/anime series by Yoshihiro Takahashi. The series came out in the 1980s and has become widely popular in Scandinavia, especially in Finland, despite the series' Asian origins.
The manga has only been published in Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Finnish. The manga has been published in 7 editions.
First edition contains 18 volumes. Second and third editions contains 10 volumes. The fourth, sixth and seventh editions contains 8 and the fifth contains 6.
Finnish edition of this series has 18 volumes plus special edition of volume 1 in honor of Yoshihiro Takahashi's visit to Finland to be guest of honor in Finnish anime/manga event Tracon.
Main Plot
You follow the silver brindle Akita puppy Gin's journey from a puppy to an adult dog and document his struggles.
Introduction Arc
Most of the first episodes you follow Daisuke's and Gin's training to become hunters so they can avenge Riki's death.
Akakabuto Arc
In Futago pass resides Akakabuto, the monster bear, killing every dog or human entering his territory. Gin wants to avenge his father, Riki's murder and therefore joins Ohu's army to bring down the monster bear. But the journey is filled with dangers and adventures.
Wolf Arc
Time has passed since the death of Akakabuto, but suddenly some wolves kidnap Cross and her pups. Now Gin and his pack find themselves wrapped into a new conflict.
