Tin was a pine marten who harassed the Kai brothers when they were puppies, but was driven away by Ben who managed to save them. In the anime, he was a rogue dog.

Tin was a pine marten who roamed the mountains of Kofu, when he stumbled across the only one month old Kai brothers. He tried to kill them for food, and ripped out Kurotora's right eye during the attack. However, Tin was driven away by the Great Dane Ben and has not been seen ever since.

In the anime, Tin is only mentioned as a dog who once tried to kill the Kai Brothers when they were pups, but Ben came and saved them from Tin.

Tin is explained in full detail from the dying Akatora's flashback.
The pine marten had been stalking them and waited for the puppies to fall asleep in a cardboard box till dawn. When the Kai Brothers tried to sleep in peace, Tin attacked them. The marten's teeth sunk into Kurotora's right eye and when it was about to eat the puppy, Ben came just in time and drove the pine marten away, saving Kurotora.
Later on, when the puppies were beginning to hunt as they were taught by Ben, Tin watched them from the treetop and waited until nightfall. When the Kai brothers fell asleep, Tin attacked them again - this time it snatched Chutora by his right ear and dragged him off. However, Chutora managed to twist himself free from its jaws and fought against the marten together with Akatora and Kurotora. The fight was long and hard that Tin finally dropped dead from exhaustion and blood loss.

- Tin is the only character out of all Ginga series ever to have change his whole species from mange to anime.
